Couples Perspective Coaching

Most couples aren't lacking love. They're lacking a shared language.

The same argument, every time

The argument isn't about the dishes. It never was. It's about what the dishes mean, and what they've always meant, to two people who learned completely different rules about love, respect, and effort before they ever met.

Different topic every time. Same loop. Because the topic was never the problem. The perception pattern underneath it was. Therapy helps you understand the past; it doesn't give you tools for Tuesday. And "communicate better" is not a tool. A tool is something you can use in the next conversation.

What's different here

A framework built from a published book, run as a structured program.

  • A proprietary framework. RK developed the 4 Armies Method, wrote it, published it, and has spent a decade refining it with real people.
  • Twelve weeks, not open-ended sessions. Three phases, specific outcomes each week, and a Relational Playbook that belongs to your relationship permanently.
  • Non-directive by contract. RK holds no position on whether you stay together. That is written into the agreement both partners sign.
  • Measured. The Muck Map tracks Army Position, Movement, Relational Health, Purpose Clarity, and Pattern Awareness at intake, mid-program, and close.

This is coaching, not therapy. Where something needs a clinician, RK will say so and point you to one.

Three phases, one hour a week

Tools that work between sessions, not just in them.

  1. Foundation, weeks 1 to 4

    Shared language and a baseline.

    • The seven-word question
    • Each partner's Army
    • The Relationship 80/20 Map
    • Muck Map baseline
  2. Communication, weeks 5 to 8

The skills for the hard conversations.

    • The three-part conversation opening
    • The Listening Ladder
    • The Conflict Protocol: Pause and 24-hour debrief
    • Family Systems: one inherited pattern, chosen or released
  3. Integration, weeks 9 to 12

Make it belong to the relationship.

    • Daily appreciation practice
    • The Direct Request Exchange
    • Your Relational Playbook
    • Forward Design

All twelve sessions

  1. Sharing vs. Discussing. The seven-word question and the first shared protocol
  2. Know Your Army. Identify each partner's dominant perception pattern
  3. The 80/20 Map. Name what you need most and how much of it is currently present
  4. Trigger Mapping. Name your tells and build an agreed response protocol
  5. Conversation Architecture. The three-part structure for opening hard conversations
  6. Listening as a Discipline. The Listening Ladder and the three-minute exercise
  7. The Conflict Protocol. The Pause procedure and the 24-hour debrief ritual
  8. Family Systems. Name one inherited pattern. Choose it or release it.
  9. Appreciation Practice. Specific, behavioral, spoken aloud. Daily.
  10. Intimacy & the 20%. The Direct Request Exchange
  11. The Relational Playbook. Codify what works. Your shared reference guide.
  12. Integration & Forward Design. The closing question. The vision. The forward plan.

The seven-word question

"Are you Sharing, or are we Discussing?"

Asked before any significant conversation, it settles whether the person speaking needs to be heard or needs to be engaged. Most relationship conflict doesn't begin with the topic. It begins with a mismatch in what each person thought they were doing.

What you walk away with

Not insights. Tools.

Shared tools

  • The seven-word question, simple enough to use at 9pm when things are tense
  • Army identification for both partners: current coordinates, not a label
  • The Relationship 80/20 Map: what each of you needs most, said out loud
  • A Conflict Protocol: an agreed Pause phrase and a 24-hour debrief ritual

What stays with you

  • The Relational Playbook, which belongs to both of you permanently
  • Your Muck Map score three times: intake, mid-program, and close
  • A Forward Design: a shared vision statement and individual commitments
